The northern most of Australia's state capitals, sub tropical Brisbane is a modern sophisticated city full of life and vitality.  Originally settled in 1825 by a detatchment of 45 convicts and their guards, it was a penal settlement situated at Redcliffe north of the city's current location.  Brisbane boasts average temperatures of 25 degress in January and 16 degrees in June.  Inner suburbs come alive at night - to rival any other Australian City.
